Treatment to reduce the appearance of some facial wrinkles

Botox Cosmetic

Botox is a medication that uses a form of botulinum toxin to temporarily paralyze muscle activity. Noted primarily for the ability to reduce the appearance of some facial wrinkles, botulinum toxin injections can also treat repetitive neck spasms (cervical dystonia), excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), overactive bladder, and some causes of crossed eyes.

Botulinum toxin injections also help prevent chronic migraines in some people, and can soften or round out a square jawline.

What You Need To Know

The Treatment

  • No anesthesia is required. Discomfort is usually minimal and brief.
  • Your doctor will administer a few tiny injections of Botox directly into the muscles that cause those frown lines between the brows, or other lines/wrinkles of concern.

After the Treatment

  • No downtime is needed – you’re ready to get on with your day!
  • Possible side effects associated with the injection include localized pain, bruising, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding.

At Tallahassee Vein & Face Clinic, we have found that many of our patients who suffer from migraines and frequent severe headaches have gotten relief with the injection of Botox. For insurance to cover injection for headache, a neurologist has to inject Botox, and the dose injected is quite large. We use much smaller amounts, and while we can make no promises with the use of Botox, we’ve been pleased to see that many of our patients have found success in avoiding headaches.
